Children of War Need Hope
Introduce Ukrainian Orphans to Jesus
OurKids runs Christian recovery camps in Ukraine where children affected by war find safety, care, emotional healing, and hope.
Abandoned by her mother, Ulyana learned to shut down emotionally.
At camp, she encountered God’s unconditional love — and learned to trust again.
lashed out at everyone after growing up without love or stability.
Through Christ-like care and someone believing in him, anger gave way to trust and joy.
Yuliia found faith and friendship at camp before losing her father in the war.
In her grief, she returned to prayer and to the friends who reminded her she was not alone.
Rejected and bullied, Agnesa believed she had no worth.
At camp, she learned through faith that she is deeply valued in God’s eyes.
Known for fighting and aggression, Damir arrived closed off from everyone.
One night, he read the Bible by flashlight — and left the camp calm and changed from within.
Fled an occupied city where fear was part of daily life.
At camp, through prayer and care, she experienced peace for the first time in a long while.
Why This Matters Right Now
For these children, recovery cannot wait
-
War has taken more than homes from Ukrainian children. It has taken away safety, stability, and peace. 1
-
Many children arrive carrying grief, fear, and deep emotional trauma — some after losing parents, others after living through occupation, violence, or constant uncertainty. 2
-
These experiences do not simply fade with time. They remain in a child’s heart, shaping emotions, behavior, and the ability to trust. 3
The One Who heals broken hearts
At OurKids camps, children are gently introduced to Christ through care, prayer,
and authentic relationships — not through pressure, but through compassion.
Real Stories of Healing and Hope
Healing Trauma, Restoring Joy
Behind every camp is a child with a story of pain — and a story of restoration.
These are not isolated stories.
They reflect what happens when children encounter safety, love, and Jesus.
After losing her mother at a young age and seeing her father lose custody due to alcoholism, Sofiia shut down. Carrying deep pain, she chose silence, feeling it was easier to keep everything inside than to open up to anyone.
After: (The Change)
Surrounded by care at the camp, she slowly came back to life—laughing, making friends, and learning to trust. She found strength in faith, was baptized, and now attends church every Saturday, having found true hope and a new beginning.
Orphaned at four and later losing his grandmother, Arsenii faced a childhood defined by loss and displacement. Arriving from the war zone, his deep exhaustion was revealed in his very first words: 'It’s so quiet here. I can finally sleep. There are no rocket sounds.'
After: (The Change)
The silence became his safety. Through psychological support and a calm environment free of alarms, Arsenii slowly learned to relax. Surrounded by patience and care, he finally began to rest—not just his body, but his heart.
Ruslan faced a devastating chain of loss: his father passed away, his mother is missing, and the grandmother who took him in also died. He was left alone in deep uncertainty, not even knowing for sure if his younger brother exists.
After: (The Change)
Today, Ruslan is no longer alone on the streets. He found a home under the guardianship of a caring family friend. While he still faces the questions of his past, he now has the stability, safety, and long-term support needed to navigate his future.
After losing his mother to the pandemic and being left by his father, Mykyta locked his pain inside. He found it nearly impossible to express his emotions, building a wall of silence to cope with the overwhelming grief."
After: (The Change)
Through patient mentorship, the walls crumbled. Mykyta found faith and was baptized alongside his friends. Even when new spiritual battles arose later, he knew he wasn't alone—he returned to the camp, finding strength in a community that continues to fight for him.
She does not cry easily. She stays strong and keeps going. But when she speaks about her father, the tears come, no matter how hard she tries to hold them back. Later, another loss followed. Her brother went missing. And still, Anastasiia continues to move forward.
After: (The Change)
She says that here, she feels supported. That here, it becomes a little lighter. That here, she can forget about the weight of everything, at least for a while.
Most children experience physical and psychological abuse, suffer from PTSD, have sexual experiences at an early age, and do not know love or God. It is difficult to imagine life without parents. Every new child is experiencing this horror right now.

I’ve seen first hand how the Holy Spirit is working through Ihor and his team of volunteer mentors and camp staff. Front line and orphaned young people are allowed to find HOPE even in brokenness. I’m burdened to let more of His church know about OurKids and YOURCAMP.
Pastor, Ihor Tymko
When the War and its orphans started to occur, our conference summer camp switched gears and we saw God transform us into a year round trauma RECOVERY camp. My wife, Natasha and I are committed to running this healing ministry according to God’s loving principles.

What Happens at OurKids Camps
Our camps are intentionally designed to help children recover emotionally and spiritually after the trauma of war.
This is not entertainment.
It is intentional recovery.

A Safe and Stable Environment
Children experience structure, predictability, and physical safety — allowing fear to finally loosen its grip.

Caring Relationships and Trust
Through time, consistency, and kindness, children learn that adults can be safe and trustworthy again.

Emotional Healing
Children are given space to express grief, fear, and anger instead of hiding it.

Christian Faith and Hope
Through stories, prayer, worship, and loving example, children discover that God sees their pain and walks with them.
